WASHINGTON, USA — Saturday broke a record only set the day before with the most consecutive days with temperatures at or above 80 degrees in Seattle.
Friday marked the 16th straight day with temperatures above 80 degrees in Seattle, breaking the previous record of 15 days. Saturday became the 17th day of these warmers temperatures and hit a new record.
According to the KING 5 meteorologists, the temperature reached 87 degrees Saturday.
The previous record was most recently reached in 2015 and happened before in 1977. In 2017, there were 13 straight days of 80-degree temperatures, and in 2014, there were 12.
And the heat isn't over yet.
According to KING 5 meteorologists, Sunday's high is expected to be 83 degrees.
Earlier this month, temperature records were broken multiple days in a row in the Puget Sound region. SeaTac, Seattle, Olympia and Bellingham set daily temperature records.
Olympia cracked the triple digits, registering a high temperature of 100 degrees. The previous high-temperature record of 95 was set back in 1985. SeaTac observed a high of 98 degrees, breaking the previous record of 93 set back in 2010.
So, will we see temperatures in the 90s soon?
The KING 5 meteorologists all have different predictions for how many 90-degree days we'll see, ranging from five to 10. They considered multiple factors: the current "neutral" phase we're in between El Niño and La Niña, recent record-breaking 90-degree days (13 in 2022) and historical data.
